چکیده

The study investigates the growth by pulsed-laser deposition (PLD) of ZnO thin films for the eventual incorporation into piezo-electric actuators and other sensors being developed at the University of Twente. All films are purely c-axis oriented, and results are presented which suggest the production of some of the highest quality ZnO thin films yet reported. These include films with rocking curve full-width half-maxima (FWHM) down to 1.2” and (002) 28 peak FWHM (corrected) of 0.085”. Principally, X-ray diffraction analysis is detailed, and the shift in (002) peak position with changing deposition conditions is explored.

ZnO NANOPARTICLES AND THEIR APPLICATIONS – NEW ACHIEVMENTS

The biggest advantages of ZnO are a low price, good gas sensing properties, photocatalytic activity, antibacterial activity, possibility to prepare structures with interesting optical properties, like photonic crystals, catalytic materials, in small amounts ZnO is not toxic, etc. There is a lot of different methods of ZnO nanostructures preparation, like MOVPE, high temperature evaporation, gas...

ZnO thin films deposited on various substrates were characterized by slow positron implantation spectroscopy (SPIS) combined with X-ray diffraction (XRD). All films studied exhibit wurtzite structure and crystallite size 20-100 nm. The mosaic spread of crystallites is relatively small for the films grown on single crystalline substrates while it is substantial for the film grown on amorphous su...

A General Approach for Fabricating Arc?Shaped Composite Nanowire Arrays by Pulsed Laser Deposition

Here, a new method is demonstrated that uses sideways pulsed laser deposition to deliberately bend nanowires into a desired shape after growth and fabricate arc-shaped composite nanowire arrays of a wide range of nanomaterials. The starting nanowires can be ZnO, but the materials to be deposited can be metallic, semiconductor, or ceramic depending on the application. This method provides a gene...
